- Nirel
- Common name of a historic warlock, most well-known for his historic rebellion against the regulation of magical effects in Empire-controlled space, ending with his final stand against the forces of the Empire Enforcers in the far reaches of the galaxy.
- Nirelic Ice
- A unique crystaline structure that bears little resemblance to the solid form of dihydrongen-monoxide other than external appearance. It is only found in one location in the galaxy, the site of the final battle of the historic warlock Nirel. Nirelic Ice is a byproduct of that final battle, the result of Nirel's final spell, intended to destroy the entire fleet of Empire Enforcers, but was trapped in a half-cast state by the Enforcer's collective holding web. That final spell was trapped in a crystaline structure, and didn't bloom to its full effect, but the potency is still there. Indeed the unique property of Nirelic ice is that when the frozen structure is allowed to melt (melting point at 237 K), the latent spell completes, and explodes violently outward from the source of the melt. Fortunately this expands forcefully away from the main crystaline structure, ensuring that in most cases, only the melted portion detonates, and does not cause the entire sample to cascade.
